The problem that I run into Guy, is that to a person everyone is a "noob" or they (person in question), always know what they are doing. You ask them: "Who built this trapper in the middle of the ramp in the alien base? A Rant cannot go up, it's blocking the stair". No reply. So you follow-up: "Decon that structure, it's blocking". The reply is: "No leave it there, I built it to stop humans from ....". A discussion ensues and ends up in name calling, etc.

No one admits, or rarely admits, to being a poor or negligible builder.

Fun fact: I was actually a top class builder back before I played X.

You don't end up getting good at building without being taught (which I was). If someone was willing to listen (and spoke english for me atleast) I think teaching them some tips would be a good idea.

Have to disagree BH.

I learned through observation, and also by playing as an attacker.
Attacking let's you know what structures actually help/don't help. Spec-ing teaches you ALOT too. You learn from others' mistakes, as well as their home runs.

Spec-ing is one form of being taught.

RE: Deliberate Stupidity - Builders or Griefers?
I spec Sex all the time (hope it does not sound corny, do not mean to), and also spec Huma and Darth a lot, especially as grangers and goons; but for the life of me cannot learn to do how they do it. I try and try it, but the only class I tend to survive the most is dretch. I see a great deal of many builders that have no rhyme or reason to building and maybe that is why you have so many global denybuilds around, but it is true that a good builder can help or break a team.
