About Z Mod

Z mod is a game mod for the FPS/RTS game tremulous created by a small team (see credits). Tremulous itself, and thus Z mod, is quake3 based and written in C. The Z mod has a number of features not present in Tremulous, such as MySQL integration for online player stats tracking and an achievement system.

In Z mod there are currently two gameplay types, with differing objectives. In both gameplay modes users may win badges (see badges).

* :

In this game play mode users try and survive for as long as they can against the never-ending zombie onslaught. You spawn with light armor, a helmet, a pistol, a medkit, and a thompson machinegun. You must pick up other weapons. Health boxes will drop for the first ten minutes of the game, weapons for several minutes after (see items). Users can heal their teammates (see healing) during this mode, as no building is allowed and respawning is closed after 1:30. Also, users can, at the cost of all their medical supplies, revive a teammate. If a team manages to survive longer than teams have before then they can win either the Bronze, Silver, or Gold medals. (see medals) After 10 minutes, players may join the zombie team and play as zombies against the human survivors. (see teams)

* Clean The Map:

In clean the map, gameplay is very similar to normal Tremulous gameplay. The objective is to kill the zombie's nodes and all the living zombies. Building is allowed in this game mode, and the gameplay mechanics are not altered too greatly. However, users will notice that you may not use a battlesuit or jetpack in Z mod. When you kill a zombie in this mode it's explosion will damage nearby friendly buildings, so make sure to kill zombies outside of your base!

* Badges:

Badges are an achievement system for Z mod. Badges come in three flavors: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The higher level the badge is the harder it is to achieve (generally). When a player wins a badge they, and all other current players, are notified and the badge is added to their online profile (see web) There are a variety of badges, and we are always looking for new ideas! * Medals:

Medals are achieved by getting a high time on a survival map. There are three levels to medals: Bronze, beating the third highest time on record. Silver, beating the second highest time on record. And Gold, achieving the highest time on record. Medals are independent on each map and can be hard to achieve, some users have achieved rather HIGH times, upwards of an hour! There are currently no badges associated with medals, but some are in the works. So stay tuned for more information!

* Web:

With Z mod's MySQL features, players can follow their stats and see which achievements they have won all from their web browser, and they can share their online player profile with other people by giving them a link to it. Players can view their own profile by getting their player ID in-game via the !badges command. Alternately, they can browse the list of all players and find themselves that way.
