How to Play
The gameplay mechanics of Z Mod are very similar to tremulous. However, there are still many differences.
* Teams:
There are two teams in Z mod. The survivors team, those lucky few who have proven immune to the virus, and the zombies team, the poor souls who after coming in contact with the virus are left with an empty mind and an insatiable hunger for human flesh. You are (currently) only able to play as a survivor during Clean the Map mode, and a zombie after 10minutes of survival mode. There is only one zombie type, so far, many believe mutations are occuring.
* Teamwork:
This should be obvious, but teamwork is critical to success in Z mod. Teams that work together live together, and get high scores. Without healing teammates and watching each others' backs you will fall one by one to the zombie scourge.
Also be sure to keep communication open with your teammates. Let them know where you are and your status. The server also has VOIP enabled, so if you have a client with VOIP this could be a useful tool. Remember, Fight together or die alone!
* Healing:
In survival mode you are able to heal your teammates. To heal a teammate, you must first have medical supplies from a medical box (see items). There are three methods of
healing. A full, instant, heal of a single player, the deploying of a medical dome, and the reviving of a deceased
teammate. To heal teammates, you must first take out your construction kit. You may then either fire with the construction kit to launch a dome (you can only deploy one dome at a time) or look at a teammate and use alternate fire to completely heal them.
Medical domes heal every teammate under them three HP (hit points) per second. However, players can still be damaged while healing. Domes last
only for a limited time, so use them while they are there! You can also rapidly heal a teammate (without taking out your construction kit) by using the console to bind the command "fastheal" to a key. Then use this and you will instantly heal the teammate you are looking at. The third method of healing is to
revive a dead teammate. Reviving requires THREE medical supplies (a full box) but is well worth itt. Revived players respawn like they are just joining the game, with all items includinga fresh
medkit. But make sure to guard revived teammates, they may be swarmed with nothing but a thompson! To revive teammates enter the command "/revive" in the console or bind it to a key in the console. If no teammates are dead, the command will fail.
* Items:
During survival mode, you must pickup any weapons you wish to use. You don't need to worry about armor, you spawn armored, but you only start with a thompson. You must pickup any additional weapons by clicking Q by them. Zombies drop items when they die. Medical boxes, which heal you and replenish your medical supplies up to three supplies, stop dropping at ten minutes. Weapons will keep spawning for several more minutes. You will want to keep track of your ammo if your are in for the long haul.
* Weapons:
There are 11 weapons in Z mod. All except the grenade are available to be picked up during survival mode.
* Axe
Short of bullets?, dont worry here comes the Axe.
Features: It doesn't need reloaded! And it's shiny.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. You can always throw it if you dont like it.
* Pistol
Fires small rounds at enemies. Not extremely effective at damaging, but it has a large knockback.
* Tommy
Favorite of Al Capone
The Thompson was favored by soldiers, criminals and police alike for its ergonomics, compactness, large .45 ACP cartridge, reliability, and high volume of automatic fire.
* Grenade Launcher
A powerful weapon of destruction that hurls a grenade at enemies.
Primary fire explodes upon landing. Secondary fires an incediary grenade.
* Shotty
T-800 Choice
Firing tightly packed rounds, this weapon is very effective against anything that moves.
* Mass Driver
Energy Rifle
A portable particle accelerator which causes minor nuclear reactions at the point of impact. It has a very large payload, but fires slowly.
* Chaingun
Belt drive, cased projectile weapon. It has a high repeat rate but a wide firing angle and is therefore relatively inaccurate.
* Rocket Launcher
Launches a high velocity missile at enemies, great for eliminating them in large groups. This weapon also conveys a considerable knockback force, so watch for flying zombies.
* Laser Gun
Fires a continuous laser beam that cuts right through the flesh of those it comes in contact with.
Features: An assisted tracking system.
* Grenade
A device that creates a small, but deadly, explosion. Great on tightly packed enemies.
* Mine
A basic trap, when touched by a Zombie it explodes. Stand clear when it does. Only 2 can be place at a time.
